OSNA assay for lymph nodes

The OSNA assay has proven in several » clinical studies to be a highly sensitive and specific tool for the intra-operative analysis of breast cancer metastases in sentinel lymph nodes. The test is virtually fully automated and is carried out by the » RD-100i.

It has the capability to analyse the whole lymph node and can be completed within just 30 minutes.

OSNA assay quantitatively measures the amount of CK19 mRNA which is directly related to the size of metastatic foci. Discrimination of macrometastases, micrometastases and negative lymph nodes is provided. Results are displayed as ++ for macrometastases, + for micrometastases and – for metastases negative.

Clinical decisions relating to the surgical procedure may then be made on the basis of these results. Importantly, these decisions may be taken within the timeframe of the initial surgery.
